Description
The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course is a specialty program designed to teach divers the skills and techniques needed to capture stunning underwater images using digital cameras. This course is suitable for divers of all experience levels and offers a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training to help participants improve their underwater photography skills.
The Digital Underwater Photographer course is divided into two main components:
Knowledge Development: Students complete the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Manual or eLearning modules, which cover essential concepts related to underwater photography, such as camera settings, composition, lighting, and color correction. Classroom sessions and discussions with an instructor help reinforce the understanding of these concepts.
Open Water Dives: Under the guidance of a PADI instructor, participants practice their newly acquired photography skills during a series of open water dives. These dives provide hands-on experience with various shooting techniques, camera handling, and buoyancy control, allowing divers to refine their abilities and capture better images.
Throughout the course, students receive personalized feedback and guidance from their instructor, helping them to develop their unique underwater photography style. The course also covers practical aspects of digital image management, such as file formats, storage, and editing.
To enroll in the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course, participants must hold an Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from a recognized dive organization. While no specific photography experience is required, a basic understanding of digital cameras and their functions is beneficial.
Upon successful completion of the course, divers will possess the knowledge and skills to take captivating underwater photographs, allowing them to document their diving adventures and share the beauty of the underwater world with others. This specialty certification also counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non-professional level in recreational diving
